Second Brain Map

A free, private second brain for your iPhone

What it does

On your Home Screen the app is called Brain Map.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Brain Map works right away. If you like, it syncs your notes between your devices through your own iCloud.

Where are my notes stored?

On your iPhone, and, if sync is on, in your private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can read. The developer can't see your notes. See the privacy policy.

Does the AI send my notes anywhere?

No. Speech recognition, text in photos, tags, links, search and answers all run on your iPhone. Written answers in Ask use Apple Intelligence on devices that support it; on other iPhones, Ask shows the notes that answer your question.

How do I turn iCloud sync on or off?

In Brain Map's Settings. Sync needs iCloud: sign in under Settings › Apple Account, and make sure iCloud Drive and Brain Map are allowed under Settings › Apple Account › iCloud.

What is the Inbox?

When Brain Map isn't sure how to title or tag a note, it puts it in the Inbox so you can confirm or fix it with one tap.

Voice notes don't work in my language.

Voice notes are transcribed on your iPhone. Check that the language's dictation is available under Settings › General › Keyboard › Dictation Languages, and that Brain Map has microphone and speech recognition access under Settings › Apps › Brain Map.

How do I export or delete my notes?

Export everything as Markdown or JSON from Brain Map's Settings. Delete a note by swiping it; to remove everything, delete the app, and its iCloud data under Settings › Apple Account › iCloud › Manage Storage.
